Crown Lengthening

 

Post Op Instructions:

  • Avoid eating until numbness has worn off
  • Avoid eating in the area where crown lengthening has been done for the next 48 hours.
  • Avoid extremely hot, cold, spicy, and acidic food and beverages.
  • Minor bleeding is expected. If bleeding persists apply a tea bag to the surgical site with firm but gentle pressure until bleeding has stopped. If excessive bleeding occurs please contact our office.
  • Avoid strenuous exercises for the next 48 hours.
  • Swelling is common after the procedure especially in lower jaw. Apply an ice bag wrapped in a towel or handkerchief for 2-3 hours after the surgery to minimize swelling.
  • Post op discomfort is common and will resolve on its own. Take medication as prescribed.
  • Gums will gradually recede and more of your tooth structure will be apparent within the next 6 weeks.
  • Brushing and flossing in untreated areas as usual. Avoid brushing in area of surgery for 48 hours and then very gently brush until area has healed. You may gently cleanse the area with a cotton tipped applicator with Peridex in the morning and eating for extra hygiene measures.
